Zagat Fast Food Survey Results Are In

The winners of the recent Zagat fast food survey are in.  Over 6,500 diners voted in the survey, which rated 97 major fast food chains and 39 full service chains throughout the United States.  Diners who voted, had eaten at chain restaurants an average of 10.7 times per month, and rated each of the restaurants on the Zagat 30-point scale.

The survey divided restaurants into four main categories.  Categories included Large (up to 5,000 U.S. locations), Mega (over 5,000 locations), Full-Service (table service available), and Quick-Refreshment (a focus on drinks and ice cream).

Wendy’s was crowned the year’s top food champion in the Mega category, as well as dominating the subcategories among the Mega chains.  The Large category overall winner was once again In-N-Out Burger, the restaurant won the category last year as well.  The relatively new Bonefish Grill took the top spot in the full-service category, and Ben & Jerry’s proved to be the top company in the Quick-Refreshment category.

Winners were selected in a number of smaller more focused categories as well.  Some of the categories included top health options, best value, best fries, best burger, and a host of other categories. conducts the report each year in an effort to measure public pleasure, and displeasure, with national and regional chain restaurants.  Zagat Survey CEO, Tim Zagat, said that fast food plays a vital role in feeding the country, and the results of the poll can help Americans make better eating choices, as well as help restaurants find out what consumers are looking for.
