Weird Al Brings the Alpocalypse to Comedy Central

“Weird Al” Yankovic has turned polka-based parodies into an art form, and he’s been honored with a Grammy Award for it. Now he’ll be returning to television for his first new broadcast concert since 1999. The premiere of the “Weird Al” Yankovic Live! Alpocalypse Tour will air on Comedy Central on October 1st. To follow up, the DVD of the Alpocalypse Tour will be released across the country on October 4th. Fans can also pick up the Comedy Central Home Entertainment release on Blu-Ray disc. The program will be available through iTunes and Amazon Video On Demand, and Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store, for downloading as well.

Both the DVD and Blu-Ray disc feature extra footage from the concert and many other bonus features. Music videos for the most popular parodies, including “Polka Face” and “Perform This Way” are also included.  The concrete and bonus footage was recorded earlier this year at Massey Hall in Toronto. Weird Al’s tour was to support the release of his new full-length studio album known as Alpocalypse. The album was released in June by Sony and reached the 9th position on the Billboard Music chart. The most popular parody song on the album is, “Perform This Way”, a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. The upcoming DVD also contains old favorites like “Amish Paradise” and “White & Nerdy”.

If you can’t catch the television special, you can watch the “Polka Face” video on ComedyCentral.com on September 25th. The video parodies a variety of popular artists all in one song, including Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. The video will only be available for two days before fans will have to buy the DVD to enjoy it again.
