Toys"R"Us Reveals Sneak Peak For Upcoming Shopping Season

It may only be September, but Toys”R”Us has revealed a few details about their plans for the 2011 Holiday Gift shopping season. In a special event closed to retail industry insiders and reporters, the CEO of the company explained the initiatives and plans that he thinks will help them secure the top spot in holiday shopping yet again this year. The President Neil Friedman also joined the CEO at the event to explain how he planned to spend his first holiday season with Toys”R”Us.

The country’s largest retail toy chain is focusing on innovation to boost them above the competition this year. E-Commerce has been streamlined so that fulfillment of online orders could be processed faster, leading to a larger offering of online buying options. The shopping experience, both online and in retail locations, will be greatly improved during this holiday season as well. Since holiday gifts comprise so much of their total revenue, the entire corporation has been working to make 2011 their best year yet.

As explained at the event, the company has been able to maintain growing same store sales during the month of December for the past five years. Few other retail chains have been able to reach that goal as the recession cut consumer spending drastically, even for Christmas and other winter holidays. CEO Jerry Storch believes that the expanded offerings and unique specialties will be the edge that Toys”R”Us needs to continue this growth streak.
The event also featured the unveiling of a few specialty toys that will be big hits later this year. Merchandisers worked all year to bring in manufacturers from across the globe for exclusive deals on Air Swimmers, Moshi Monsters, My Keepon and other hot toy concepts. The top brands from Toys”R”Us, including Journey Girls and True Heroes, will also be expanded this year.
