Pizza Hut Joins the Foursquare Revolution and Offers Free Breadsticks to Pizza Hut Mayor of the Day

Pizza Hut was already the digital king of the pizza industry, and now they have added the social network Foursquare to their list of digital tools.  Starting August 10 and running through the end of the year, users of the smartphone social networking application will have the chance to win a free single order of breadsticks with the purchase of a large pizza.

The “Mayor” of every Pizza Hut location on the Foursquare application will have to prove that they are the “Mayor” of the day for that Pizza Hut location.  Users can convey to Pizza Hut that they are in fact the “Mayor” by simply showing the phone application indicating they are the Pizza Hut “Mayor”.  The Pizza Hut Foursquare offer is only available for Dine-in and Carry Out orders placed at the restaurant.  There will only be one “Mayor” per day at each participating Pizza Hut, and the “Mayor” special can only be redeem once per day at each store.

The Foursquare promotion is just the latest in a long line of digital innovations Pizza Hut has used over the last decade to get more involved with customers.  In October of 2008, the company launched an application on Facebook, which allows users to order from their local stores without ever leaving Facebook.  Then in July of last year Pizza Hut was the first national chain restaurant to create their own iPhone ordering application.  The service led to nearly $1 million in sales for the company.

Pizza Hut is one of the first national pizza chains to offer a promotion through the Foursquare application.
