Over 1.5 Million Restaurant Gift Certificates Sold through Restaurant.com's September Daily Deal

On September 30th, Restaurant.com ran its first daily deal leading restaurant diners to great savings.  This daily deal (which actually ran for two days) resulted in meal deal seekers purchasing over 1.5 million gift certificates from the website.  As a result, 1.5 million restaurant tables could fill up and potentially drive $105 million in revenue to restaurants across the country.

Transactions made through Restaurant.com daily offers are split up among more than 15,000 restaurants nationwide, and the selection is large with over 35,000 gift certificates which have no expiration date.  The selection allows gift certificates to be tailored to the needs of the consumer and each restaurant or diner which ensures the daily deal program gives a stable flow of customers to the restaurants when they need business the most.  This makes it easy for restaurants to fill seats during slow times while still being able to easily prepare for inventory and staffing requirements.

Gift certificates are purchasable in denominations ranging from $10 to $100, these certificates give the potential for restaurants participating in Restaurant.com’s daily deal to make a net profit of $35 million.  These figures are represented in Restaurant.com’s decade spent in the industry working with other diners, learning how to estimate food cost in addition to estimating what a customer generally spends when dining out with a gift certificate from the website.

After customers use their gift certificates they are sent a survey asking about their overall experience at the diner of choice, the feedback is then given back to the restaurant.  Restaurant operators are also given monthly reports that outline their performance and give outlines of projected profit.  Restaurant.com plans to keep providing customers with daily savings at their favorite diners.
