Jeff Wayne to Launch Another War of the Worlds

No one would have believed in the last years of the twentieth century that Jeff Wayne would still be watched keenly and listened to closely.  Yet across the gulf of time, fans regarded his work with ravenous ears and desirous eyes, and he slowly and surely drew his plans against us.

When Jeff Wayne first created his musical version of H.G Well’s classic The War of the Worlds, he didn’t know that it would become a cult classic and, eventually, one of the most successful arena shows ever produced.  Now, after 33 years and 15 million albums sold, Wayne is preparing to release a “new interpretation” of his groundbreaking composition.  The new production will be released as a double CD in June 2012.

In November, after the release of the new CD, Wayne will launch a massive, updated version of the arena production.  The “New Generation” world tour will feature upgraded technology, 3D holography, CGI animation, a full sized orchestra and the Black Smoke Band.  Liam Neeson will play the role of the Journalist, the role that Richard Burton masterfully performed on the original album.  Neeson will appear as a full body hologram.

“After long consideration I concluded that for future productions, some of HG Wells’ storylines and characters should be re-explored,” Wayne said. “It would also give me the chance to re-interpret my compositions with the production techniques of today, which is exciting from a musician’s point of view.”
