Disney to Begin Blu-ray 3D Releases

Walt Disney Studios has announced that, in line with its commitment to continue to be a leader in the field of three dimensional entertainment, it is making a significant amount of titles available in the Blu-ray 3D market. The studio announced that it is planning to release more than 15 films for Blu-ray 3D home viewing in 2011.

A spokesman for the studio said that Walt Disney continues to enlarge its 3D content library using the original film makers and artists in order to carefully transfer their work to the 3D format so that movie fans will get the best possible experience from their home entertainment.

Some of the hit movies that are being prepared for release are celebrated classics of animation like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, recent releases into theaters such as the high tech and visually stunning adventure Tron: Legacy and the critically acclaimed box office hit, Tangled. There are many others that Disney will announce soon.

As the Walt Disney Studios library of contemporary 3D content keeps growing fans can expect the best quality experience available for home entertainment, according to Lori MacPherson, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. She added that Disney is thrilled to be offering their customers movies using the 3D technology.

Some of the other titles that are up for release in the next year are Meet the Robinson’s, Bolt, G Force, Chicken Little and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare before Christmas.
