Brooks & Dunn Perform Final Show Together

After a 19-year run that saw them become the most commercially successful duo in history, country or otherwise, Brooks & Dunn have called it a wrap.  The dynamic country duo performed their last show together on Thursday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

While many in the crowds may have anticipated an emotional and somber show, especially after a 15-minute introductory video set the stage for a tearful goodbye, the show was anything but.  Kix Brooks described the show best when he said, “We did show up to party.”  The two hour show was filled with the duo’s greatest hits, was well rehearsed, and as professional a show as you could find.

Instead of the show being filled with guest appearances from county mega-stars in a farewell tribute, fans were treated to an up-tempo sing-along with Brooks & Dunn.  The only special guest appearance was a short spot by Reba McEntire, and then it was back to the stars of the evening.

A summer filled with vocal problems for Ronnie Dunn caused the group to postpone a number of shows over their summer tour, but on this night, his voice was strong enough to remind everyone just why he is considered such a powerful vocalist.

The group is splitting up after their wildly successful time together to pursue solo careers.  They ended the night with an encore performance of their first hit single Brand New Man, shook hands, and left the stage as easily as they had taken it for the first time so many years ago.
