Bon Jovi to Receive First Ever Global Icon Award

MTV has announced the first recipient of their Global Icon Award. Bon Jovi, the iconic rock band that first hit the air waves in the 1980’s is slated to receive the top honors. The band will receive the award at the annual MTV EMA Awards on November 7th, 2010.

Bon Jovi managed to hit the market with a bang with their first offering known as Slippery When Wet. The band hit the tour trail and played to packed houses all over the world and adoring fans lined up for days to see their new favorite group in action. This was backed up by the lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi who became a model for the 1980’s era movement.

Bon Jovi is one of the few bands from that era that has stayed together throughout the years. They have managed to reinvent themselves several times over, changing styles of music as they move along.

Jon Bon Jovi embarked on a rather successful solo career as well. He was the driving force behind the hit movie Young Guns II, and enjoyed massive success from the film and the album release. He also appeared alongside Sam Kinnison and Rodney Dangerfield in Kinnisons rendition of Wild Thing.

Through it all the band has remained as it once was and still pack houses with their shows.  Their 11th studio album, The Circle, was released in 2009.  A new Greatest Hits album will be released on November 9th, 2010. According to reports, all members of Bon Jovi will be in attendance to receive the award.
