Beloved Actor Tom Bosley Dies at 83

Tom Bosley, best known for his role on Happy Days, died at the age of 83. The official cause of death is said to be natural causes stemming from a short battle with lung cancer. Bosley is an award winning actor from the stage and screen whose career spanned six decades.

Tom Bosley started his acting career in the film Love with a Perfect Stranger, alongside Natalie Wood and Steve Mcqueen. He would later land roles in other major films of the era before being tapped to play the patriarch of the Cunningham family in Happy Days.

Bosley played alongside such stars as Scott Baio, Ron Howard and Henry Winkler during the Happy Days years. He was known as a kind and loving man who was loved by everyone who worked with him.

Following his success on Happy Days he landed a recurring role on Murder She Wrote with Angela Lansbury. His role, as kindly Father Dowling, turned into a spinoff series, The Father Dowling Mysteries, a role that he loved and relished for the few seasons it was on the air.

Bosley won a Tony Award for his work in the musical Fiorello! He also received two Emmy nominations for his appearance on Happy Days. He was also well known on the infomercial circuit for his work with SMC and other late night promoted products.
